Aurora 12 bar – All Through-Hole, All New
Aurora 12 bar is a simple, straight line RGB LED sequencer/chaser. Aurora 12 bar’s hardware is almost identical to Aurora mini 18. In fact only difference are (besides their shapes) the number of LEDs and the microcontroller that they use. Oh, and Aurora 12 bar doesn’t use a single SMT (surface mount technology) part!
In addition to all the animations that other Aurora’s can do, Aurora 12 bar also has the analog input ready. By hooking up to Audio Interface, you can turn Aurora 12 bar into a full-color sound/VU meter!
Video and Instructables are in the works, however the kits and PCBs are ready to go.
I’d like to build and program this circuit myself. Is there a firmware download for the 12 bar? I only see firmware for some of the others. Amazing work by the way!

Hello,
is there a controller as to how fast the colors change? Also how high can the LED’s be from the board? I am building a raygun and want the LED’s to be on top of the gun.
Thanks

You can always alter the firmware to get what you want, but as it is with the current version, there’s no speed control. My plan is to add similar function to Wave JT, where you can double/triple tap the button to change the speed.

Thank you for your response.
Could you offer a modified version of this one which will include 15 MOSFETs on the board, so we just need to connect 12 3W RGBs?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Trinh.

I will keep that in mind for a future project.

Hi,
This one is great.
Does it use the same firmware with Aurora mini 18?
And how can I modify it to connect 12 X RGB 3W ?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Trinh

Aurora 12 bar’s firmware is almost identical to mini 18, except that it has the analog/sound meter function added to it.
To control high power LEDs, you’s have to add a MOSFET for each LED and one for each RGB channel, total of 15 MOSFETs. Basically the same schematic as Aurora 9×18 or 18×18, but you’d want to use MOSFETs instead of BJTs.
